Transforming Hope into Healing Since 1997

For nearly three decades, SKM Hospital has been a lifeline for patients with acute burns, severe scars, and complex injuries across Nepal.

Founded in 1997 through a visionary partnership between the Interplast Germany Foundation and the Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust, Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital (SKMH) has become Nepal’s leading center for plastic and reconstructive surgery. From life-saving burn treatments to life-changing reconstructive procedures, SKMH has delivered compassionate, expert care to those who need it most.

Over the years, the hospital has performed more than 20,000 surgeries and provided medical support to hundreds of thousands of patients. Its outreach extends far beyond the capital—through mobile surgical camps, SKMH brings healing to remote and underserved communities across the country.

Nestled in Salambutar, Kathmandu, SKMH stands as a symbol of resilience, equity, and hope—a place where every patient’s journey toward healing begins with dignity and expert care.

Your gift holds great powers, donate today

Your donations contribute to the hospital's operational viability and are almost entirely used to treat patients with limited resources according to our medical standards.

But the impact goes even further. Donations also help uphold SKM Hospital’s commitment to global standards in patient care, fund specialized programs like burn rehabilitation, cleft surgery, physiotherapy, and psychological support, and invest in advanced training for Nepalese healthcare professionals.

A vibrant, diverse staff is at the heart of our work. We strive to create an environment where every team member feels empowered, respected, and inspired—because when our staff thrives, our patients heal better.

Your generosity isn’t just keeping the hospital running—it’s making it extraordinary.

SKMH and Interburns

Pioneering Burn Care in Nepal

At SKM Hospital in Kathmandu, our specialized burn and reconstructive surgery services are further elevated through a strategic collaboration with Interburns. Since its establishment in 1997 with support from Interplast Germany, SKMH has been at the forefront of treating burn patients, managing approximately 500–550 cases annually with its dedicated ICU and burn unit.

Our partnership with Interburns focuses on advanced training programs, knowledge sharing, and collaborative research to empower healthcare professionals with essential skills in primary burn care management. By integrating these initiatives into Nepal's national healthcare system, we are setting new standards in burn prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, ensuring improved outcomes even in resource-limited settings.
